Cardiac Monitors

Cardiac Monitors

Best thought of as an EKG that you wear for an extended period of time. There are less leads than a standard EKG, making this easier to apply and use for up to a month at a time. These monitors are often referred to as Holter and Event monitors.

The monitors may be mailed to you or placed in office. You will want to avoid any oils/lotions on your chest so that the electrodes can adhere correctly.

Chest hair may need to be removed/shaved in areas where electrodes will be placed. A specialized form is an “implanted” device, which is small, leadless and able to be implanted for long durations just under the skin. This is referred to as a loop recorder and can typically be implanted in office.
